EDUCATION - COCKINGTON INTRODUCTION
Cockington Country Park

Only a mile from Torquay seafront, the Domesday Book village of Cockington has hardly changed through the centuries. Come and explore this special village, its historic manor house and the 460 acres of parkland, woodland and farmland around. The picturesque Gamekeeper's Cottage in the heart of the park is the base for activities including:
  • Exploring the freshwater world of the stream running through the water meadows
  • Discovering Cockington Woods, its trees, plants and creepy crawlies!
  • Visiting the demonstration organic garden.
  • Have a go at the Orienteering course- beginner to advanced
  • Enjoy environmental games or team building activities
  • Visit the disabled friendly play area
The experienced Rangers can offer the following types of activities or tailor made visits:
  • Woodland Safari & Mini-beasts
  • Pond/Stream Dipping
  • Evening Bat Bonanza
  • Orienteering & Map Skills

  • Team Building Challenges

  • Ecological Studies
We welcome visits from primary and secondary schools, colleges and community groups. We also run visits in Occombe and Scadson Woods which are near to Cockington.
