We are planning to replace damaged and unsafe rose trellises with new trellises and roses.
What’s happening?
Several rose trellises broke during recent storms, with many more becoming unsafe. Following an inspection, it was concluded that many of them had come to the end of their life and were no longer in a suitable condition.
We intend to remove the old trellises and replace them with new ones. In order to do this, many of the roses will also need to be replaced, as over time, the trellises and roses have become intertwined.
When is this happening?
Work will commence this February. Half will be replaced this year, with the other half at the beginning of 2024.
The work is being phased over two years to mitigate the overall appearance of the rose garden. Initially it is likely to look very different.
Who is doing the work?
A local volunteer is making the trellises for us. They will be installed by our gardener and volunteers. New roses will be planted, as the new trellises are installed.
