Early November is a great time to catch some of the most spectacular overhead movements of birds, especially early in the morning. Given the right conditions thousands of birds could be on the move in huge flocks. Spot redwings and fieldfare, arriving back from their breeding grounds of Scandinavia. See finches including brambling, pipits and perhaps even a passing ring ouzel, short-eared owl, merlin or a woodcock. Local bird expert, Mike Langman, will guide you through what’s going on and help you identify these birds by their shape and call. We’ll warm ourselves up afterwards at the Guardhouse Café, with a hearty full breakfast and tea/coffee.
