Friends of Berry Head

The Friends of Berry Head are an independent group of volunteers from the local community with a passion and pride in Berry Head National Nature Reserve.

They help us to protect, conserve and enhance Berry Head National Nature Reserve by encouraging support from local people and raising funds to support the protection and enhancement of the landscape, wildlife, and archaeology of the headland. Membership of The Friends of Berry Head is open to anybody who works on, contributes to or visits Berry Head.

There is a dedicated “Friends Wall” in the Guardhouse Café where you can find out more or please contact us.

Friends of the Grove and Churston Woods

This group was formed following the clearance of diseased trees at Churston Woods and the Grove in 2017.

The area was cleared when a significant number of larch and sweet chestnut trees, showing signs of disease at the Grove and Ball Copse, were felled on advice from The Forestry Commission. The Trust set up a crowdfunding campaign to help raise vital funds and awareness to help restore this semi ancient woodland. A staggering 4,800 trees were planted in their place. To find out more about this group, please contact us.
