Retail Manager

Occombe Farm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Retail Manager to lead and develop its retail operations. This role is key to creating an exceptional customer experience and maximising opportunities to promote the retail services across the farm. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, stock management, staff training, compliance, and health and safety. Additionally, you will collaborate with the catering and visitor attraction teams to ensure a cohesive and high-quality service across the entire site.

This is a permanent, full-time role, based on working 5 days of a 7-day working week. The role will include some weekend and Bank Holiday work. Applicants must be flexible in their availability to provide cover for holidays, absence, and special events.

Chef

We are seeking to hire a Chef to work at Occombe Farm within our warm and friendly kitchen team, providing high quality food across our many catering outlets. Key responsibilities include preparing high-quality, enticing dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. This includes cooking breakfast items and preparing selections from our lunch menu.

The role also demands a strong commitment to health and safety, with particular attention to managing allergens, maintaining food hygiene standards, and safely handling kitchen equipment.

HoursFull time, 37 hours. 5 days a week.  Flexible shifts between the hours of 7.30am & 4pm, Mon to Fri and weekends.

Volunteer Trainee Ranger

Would you like to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue a career in the environmental sector? We are recruiting two volunteer trainee countryside rangers for Occombe Farm Estate Team. Working across a range of beautiful sites across Torbay, this 9-12-month training opportunity offers valuable experience in practical habitat management; footpath maintenance; and public engagement. 

The main focus will be on carrying out practical habitat management across a wide variety of our sites. Some of the key work areas include limestone grassland management, scrub clearance, and woodland/orchard management in the winter, and coast path cutting and footpath maintenance in the summer. You will also get involved with site patrols, boardwalk repairs, fencing and livestock checks.
