Enriching Educational Experiences for Home Education in Torbay

Are you a home educator in Torbay seeking unique learning opportunities and experiences for your child? Our team offers a range of enriching activities designed specifically for home-educated children. Adapted from those we provide to visiting school groups, making them more accessible to home educators and children. From pizza-making and team-building exercises to mini-beast hunts and gardening skills, our sessions make learning fun and educational.

Field to Fork

Tuesday 10th September 2024, 10am – 2.30pm

At Occombe Farm. Learn where our food comes from and how to cook it. Children will pick seasonal produce and make pizzas. They’ll enjoy a farm tour and meet sone of our friendly animals.


Discovery & Gardening

Tuesday 17th September 2024, 10am – 2.30pm

At Occombe Farm. Explore mini-beast habitats and learn gardening skills. We’ll use sweep nets and pooters to hunt for mini beasts. In the Occombe Community Garden we’ll learn key gardening skills like tool use, watering, planting seeds, and digging.


Survival Skills

Tuesday 24th September 2024, 10am – 2.30pm

At Occombe Farm. Learn essential survival skills through woodland den building. Master the art of fire lighting with fire safety and campfire creation using natural materials. There’s marshmallow toasting and hot chocolate too!


Orienteering at Cockington

Tuesday 1st October 2024, 10am – 2.30pm

Orienteering at Cockington Country Park. Race to find clues, master map-reading, and tackle challenges. End the day with fun team-building exercises to create lasting memories, build friendships, and boost confidence.

Some notes

All sessions are suitable for 4-12yrs. Each session starts at 10am – 2.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum one adult per family.
