Sadly, one of our sheep at Maidencombe was the victim of a dog attack last week. The sheep suffered a great deal of pain and distress but we are hopeful it will recover. Fortunately, our stockperson was on site and managed to track down the dog’s ‘owner’ at the time. We all have a responsibility to protect the countryside and all the animals that live there. When out with your dog, you are legally required to ensure that it does not cause distress or harm to farm animals. Every year farmers are forced to take drastic action to deal with dogs that harm livestock. Please don’t put the Trust in that position.
